Today, the Undersecretary of the Livestock Sector at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, Dr. Abdul Raouf Al-Shawkani, and the Deputy Executive Director General of the Unit for Financing Agricultural and Fisheries Projects and Initiatives in the Capital Secretariat, Mr. Samir Ahmed Hamza, inspected today the level of technical and construction readiness of the poultry houses and cow sheds at the Veterinary Institute in the Shuoub District, as part of the final preparations for launching strategic development projects in partnership with the Shuoub Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society.
The visit, in which the technical agent of the institute, Dr. Khaled Al-Salawi, and the association’s president, Sheikh Muhammad Al-Washah, participated, included an inspection of the sterilization and preparation work in the chicken houses designated to receive one thousand and six hundred of my chickens, as a first stage that was granted to the association with the aim of multiplying and improving production, in preparation for distributing them as in-kind loans to productive families in the Shu’ub District and a number of the capital’s secretariat directorates.
The participants also discussed the mechanism for supplying the institute with ten heads of cows, which would contribute to strengthening the dairy production chain in the capital secretariat, in addition to emphasizing the immediate start of the rehabilitation of the institute’s parlor and dairy factory, in a way that would raise the efficiency of local production and provide high-quality products at reasonable prices for citizens.
Dr. Abdul Raouf Al-Shawkani confirmed that the Ministry is working according to a vision aimed at transforming educational institutions into effective production centers that contribute to supporting the national economy and enhancing food security, noting that the municipal poultry distribution project represents a strategic step towards empowering productive families and achieving self-sufficiency.
For his part, Professor Samir Ahmed Hamza explained that the priorities of the financing unit stem from the directives of the leadership of the Capital Municipality, represented by Dr. Hammoud Abbad, and focus on financing projects that have a direct impact on the lives of citizens, pointing out that the rehabilitation of the institute’s facilities aims to support local production and link funding to tangible practical results.
In turn, the President of the Shuoub Cooperative Society, Sheikh Muhammad Al-Washah, appreciated the support of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Cooperative Union, and the Finance Unit, stressing that this partnership represents a successful model for sustainable development and economic empowerment of families through sustainable production projects.
While Dr. Khaled Al-Salawi stressed that reactivating the wards and laboratories will enhance the educational and applied capabilities of the institute’s students, by linking the academic aspects with practical training, which will contribute to the graduation of qualified cadres capable of serving the animal and poultry production sector.
The visit was attended by the Director of Studies and Planning, Engineer Essam Al-Faqih, the Director of Evaluation and Follow-up at the Finance Unit, Dr. Muhammad Al-Mansour, and a number of specialists and engineers from the Institute and the Association.
