The Chairman of the Social Affairs Committee in the two localities of Amanat Al-Asimah - Deputy Head of the Development Team, Hamoud Al-Naqeeb, was briefed today on the activities of the Agricultural Veterinary Institute in Shu’ub District.
The Captain, along with the Director of the Agricultural and Fisheries Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit in the Secretariat, Engineer Abdul-Malik Al-Ansi, the Shaub Directorate, Muhammad Al-Hadrami, and the President of the Shaub Cooperative Society, Muhammad Al-Washah, inspected the progress of work at the institute and the departments of veterinary, plant and animal production, and food industries.
They also viewed the institute’s production laboratories, agricultural reserves, and livestock barns, and the mechanism for implementing aquaculture projects and rehabilitating and developing the veterinary, plant, animal, and food production departments with funding from the Agricultural Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit of the secretariat.
They heard from the director of the institute, Hussein Al-Atheeb, an explanation about the progress of education at the institute, its specializations, the vocational and technical departments it contains, and their importance in qualifying students and supporting the activities of the plant and animal sector at the institute, as well as preparing studies for rehabilitation projects and submitting them to the agricultural unit for financing.
The captain explained that the visit comes within the framework of assessing the conditions and needs of the Agricultural Veterinary Institute, and implementing development projects for the institute, including hydroponics, rehabilitating the parlor and the apiary, developing and expanding the poultry and livestock house, and purchasing a number of cows for the purpose of increasing milk production.
He stressed the keenness to support rehabilitation projects in the Agricultural Veterinary Institute and the animal, plant and food production departments, and to improve the performance of the Institute and enhance its role in supplying the labor market with qualified cadres in a way that contributes to achieving agricultural and animal development in the context of trends towards self-sufficiency.
In turn, the Director of the Agricultural Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit in the secretariat referred to the projects funded by the unit, including projects to support the activities of the plant and animal sector at the Agricultural Veterinary Institute, provide the necessary tools and equipment, and qualify the institute’s cadres.
