The activities of the "Yemen's Goodness" Festival, in its second season, will begin tomorrow, Saturday, organized by the local council in the capital secretariat, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, through the Office of Agriculture and the Unit for Financing Agricultural and Fisheries Projects and Initiatives in the secretariat.
The festival, which will be held at Wahda Club Sanaa Stadium and will last for five days, aims to highlight the quality of Yemeni agricultural products and open broader horizons for marketing, investment and export.
Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries for the Marketing Sector - member of the festival’s supervisory committee, Mohsen Atef, explained that the festival seeks to enhance the status, quality and value of agricultural products, contribute to their marketing, and support and highlight the extent of their ability to compete in local and foreign markets.
The Yemeni Khairat Festival was considered a national platform to enhance the presence of agricultural products locally and globally, and to encourage farmers and producers to improve the quality of crops and advance agricultural practices, thus contributing to supporting the national economy.
Undersecretary Atef stated that the festival is a translation of the Government of Construction and Change’s program that emphasizes care for the agricultural sector as it is the backbone of the national economy, pointing out the importance of the role of agricultural festivals in introducing pomegranates, grapes, apples and dates, as they are among the most prominent crops in Yemen with high marketing value, by holding various activities that include exhibitions of agricultural products, workshops and scientific seminars that discuss many agricultural researches.
While the Director of the Agricultural and Fisheries Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit, Engineer Abdul Malik Al-Ansi, indicated that the festival focuses on encouraging the marketing of the local product, supporting farmers, sellers, marketers, agricultural and export institutions, and highlighting the quality of the local product.
He pointed out that the festival aims to create job opportunities in traditional and electronic marketing and promotion of local products and attract local and foreign investments in agriculture, marketing and export, considering the festival a real opportunity to develop the agricultural sector, by spreading the culture of the Yemeni product and promoting it, in a way that enhances its global competitiveness.
Al-Ansi called on everyone to ensure widespread participation in supporting the festival and introducing the local product as part of the national identity.
In turn, the head of the festival’s preparatory committee - director of the agricultural office in the secretariat, Engineer Muhammad Hajar, pointed out the importance of the Yemen Khairat Festival in its second season to enhance coordination between farmers, marketers and agricultural associations to market and sell agricultural products in an optimal manner.
He stated that the festival includes exhibitions of agricultural products, pavilions for exporters, marketers, associations and farmers, as well as for productive families, pavilions for small and micro-enterprises and economic empowerment, and others for mechanization and service providers.
Hajar expected that the festival would enjoy wide participation from government agencies, the private sector, and agricultural cooperative societies, as it is an agricultural and development event that opens new horizons for investment and agricultural export.
