Sanaa - Today, Sanaa University witnessed an expanded meeting that included the Agricultural and Fisheries Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit in the Capital Secretariat and representatives of the Agricultural Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture, along with leaders from the Capital Secretariat and an elite group of university academics, to discuss mechanisms for supporting the agricultural sector and developing its specific projects.
During the meeting, which was held in the presence of the Director of the Project Finance Unit, Abdul-Malik Al-Ansi, and the Undersecretary of the Capital Municipality for Financial Affairs, Naji Al-Qawsi, the importance of activating the institutional partnership between official bodies and the academic sector was emphasized to enhance agricultural production and transform qualitative ideas into projects ready for implementation.
Al-Ansi explained that the meeting comes within the framework of preparations for the launch of the first “Yemen’s Bounties Festival,” which represents a national platform to highlight the fruits of the Yemeni land and its various products, noting that the festival will keep pace with the state’s efforts to support farmers and stimulate investment in the agricultural and fisheries sector.
The attendees also discussed the plan to prepare comprehensive questionnaires targeting agricultural project leaders in various areas of the Capital Municipality, with the aim of monitoring field challenges and identifying actual needs that can be translated into practical initiatives, stressing that this step represents an essential pillar in building an accurate database that contributes to drawing a strategic map for agricultural and fisheries projects during the next stage.
For his part, Naji Al-Qusi, Undersecretary of the Capital Municipality for Financial Affairs, stressed that strengthening coordination between government agencies and universities contributes to creating practical and sustainable solutions to advance the agricultural sector, pointing out that the Capital Municipality strongly supports holding the festival in a way that reflects a positive image of national capabilities in the field of local production.
The attendees agreed on the necessity of continuing joint meetings to ensure follow-up on the implementation of recommendations and the transformation of academic studies and research into applied projects with a tangible impact on the national economy.
