Today, the Agricultural and Fisheries Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit in the Capital Secretariat launched a project to establish 30 production groups for 600 farmers in the Bani Al-Harith District according to value chains.
The project, which is being implemented under the slogan “Our production totals... our step towards food sovereignty,” aims to provide integrated support in the field of agricultural production in the district during the year 1447 AH, at a cost of six million riyals, funded by the local council of the secretariat through the Agricultural Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit.
At the inauguration, which was attended by Shura Council member Adel Al-Hanbasi, the Undersecretary of the Capital Municipality for Agricultural Affairs, Muhammad Saree, and the Executive Director of the Agricultural Finance Unit, Abdullah Sharaf Al-Din, stressed the importance of the project implemented by the Bani Al-Harith Multi-Purpose Association under the supervision of the Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources Sector, to enhance value baskets and improve the lives of farmers.
They pointed out that the project will contribute to increasing agricultural production in the targeted areas in Bani Al-Harith, and contribute to reducing the import bill for agricultural products.
Sarie and Sharaf El-Din explained that the project will work to take advantage of agricultural spaces, improve the income level of beneficiary families, reduce the cost of production and ensure the quality of products, in addition to vertical expansion in the series of grape crops of all kinds, cereals, and legumes, especially beans, beans, and soybeans.
The inauguration was attended by the Director of the Bani Al-Harith District, Hamad bin Rakan, and the President of the Bani Al-Harith Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society, Sadiq Al-Jadmi.
