Today, the Tenders Committee in the Municipality of the Capital reviewed the tender envelopes for the project to establish and implement the Agricultural and Fisheries Research Center building at Sana’a University, at an estimated cost of 260 million riyals, with local funding.

Today, the Tenders Committee in the Municipality of the Capital reviewed the tender envelopes for the project to establish and implement the Agricultural and Fisheries Research Center building at Sana’a University, at an estimated cost of 260 million riyals, with local funding.


In its meeting, headed by the Chairman of the Social Affairs Committee - Deputy Head of the Development Team in the Secretariat, Hamoud Al-Naqeeb, and in the presence of the Head of the Planning and Services Committees, Sharaf Al-Hadi and Services, Adel Al-Aqari, and the Director of the Agricultural and Fish Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit in the Secretariat, Abdullah Sharaf Al-Din, the committee referred the envelopes to the Technical Analysis Committee to study and evaluate the submitted offers.


The captain considered the project to establish the agricultural and fishery research center at the university an important strategic step to enhance scientific research in the agricultural and fishery sectors, develop productive capabilities, support economic empowerment projects, and achieve local development in this field.


He pointed out the importance of implementing this vital project, which is funded by the local authority through the Agricultural and Fisheries Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit in the secretariat and within the framework of the partnership with Sana’a University.


For his part, the Secretary-General of Sana'a University, Dr. Iskandar Al-Maqaleh, explained that the Agricultural and Fisheries Research Center at Sana'a University will be a great support to the university and will provide an opportunity for scientists and researchers to present their expertise and initiatives in this field.


He stressed that the scientific aspect is a very important research source, indicating that this center will be concerned with improving and developing fish and agricultural wealth within the framework of the state’s general direction to achieve food security and self-sufficiency, especially in light of the economic war waged by the aggression against the Yemeni people.


In turn, Director of the Finance Unit, Sharaf El-Din, pointed out the center’s role in producing practical research for the agricultural and fishery sectors, indicating that the project comes within the Finance Unit’s work plan and implementing projects through cooperative societies in the secretariat’s directorates.


He explained that the center will make a qualitative leap in developing research, methods and methods used by farmers, improving value chains and improving agricultural products within the endeavors of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries and its extensions to agricultural units in the governorates.


Sharaf El-Din considered the project a good gesture to enhance the scientific orientation to develop the agricultural and fishery sectors and achieve development paths towards self-sufficiency.
