The meeting included members of the joint committee from the Finance Unit and the Executive Unit, in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Public Works and Projects Sector in the Capital Secretariat, the Director of the Executive Unit for the Establishment, Maintenance and Development of Roads and Public Places, Engineer Abdul Karim Al-Houthi, and the Executive General Director of the Agricultural and Fish Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit in the Capital Secretariat, Engineer Abdullah Ahmed Sharaf Al-Din.
The attendees discussed the level of achievement in the project, on which work was recently resumed, and the extent of implementation of the technical observations submitted by the joint committee and the advisory team in the minutes of the previous meeting, in addition to reviewing the problems related to the work carried out outside the terms of the contract, and coming up with appropriate solutions and an action plan for the final stages of the project.
During the meeting, the completion rate of the project was monitored, which amounted to about 50 percent, while the work of constructing the canal linking the Harvest Basin and Al-Sa’ila Al-Kubra is currently continuing, as it is one of the basic components of the project.
Engineer Abdullah Sharaf Al-Din stressed the need to adhere to the approved engineering specifications, raise the pace of implementation, and complete the work within the specified time period, to ensure achieving the desired goals of the project.
The attendees stressed the importance of the project in enhancing efforts to harvest rainwater and benefit from it, which contributes to supporting water resources in the Bani Al-Harith District, stressing the importance of integrating roles between the concerned authorities to achieve it as required.
It was also agreed with the implementing agency to address the comments contained in the audit requests and correspondence with the consulting team, and to attach all the required priorities to the extracts and work assets according to the signed contract.
The implementation of the “Water Lake” harvest basin project is funded and supervised by the Sana’a Municipality, represented by the Agricultural and Fisheries Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit, at a total cost of 600 million riyals, while the implementation is undertaken by the Executive Unit for the establishment, maintenance, and development of roads and public places in the Capital Municipality.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Executive Unit for Monitoring and Evaluation Affairs, Engineer Ali Muharraqa, the Director of the Technical Department of the Finance Unit, Engineer Fadl Al-Najjar, the Deputy Director of Project Management, Engineer Ahmed Al-Sindar, the project consultants, and the directors of the relevant departments.
