A consultative meeting held in the secretariat of the capital, headed by the mayor of the capital, Dr. Hammoud Abbad, discussed the mechanism for activating the role of multi-purpose cooperative societies in the secretariat’s districts to achieve a developmental renaissance in society.
The meeting, which included the Chairman of the Social Affairs Committee in the Municipality’s two localities, the Deputy Head of the Development Team in the Municipality, Hamoud Al-Naqeeb, and the Undersecretaries of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor for the Associations Sector, Dr. Ghassan Al-Madani, the Secretariat, Mazen Noman, and Assistant Naji Al-Qawsi, reviewed the tasks, activities, and programs of the associations aimed at promoting local and community integration and partnership to develop development work and implement economic empowerment projects for productive families, in order to achieve self-sufficiency.
In the meeting, the Mayor of the Capital stressed the importance of the role relied on by cooperative societies in promoting participatory and cooperative work and bringing about a transformation in the economic development of society through the role of the productive family and empowerment projects in line with the requirements of the stage and the needs of local development.
He pointed out that the current stage needs development inputs and programs that transform society into an active and productive element, stressing the need for serious action to encourage society to make community contributions.
Dr. Abbad pointed out the keenness of the Revolutionary Leadership and the Supreme Political Council to enhance cooperative work in society, serve people, build a resistant social economy, and achieve comprehensive development and self-sufficiency in various fields.
The Mayor of the Capital also confirmed that the amounts allocated to the Agricultural and Fisheries Initiatives Financing Unit have been transferred to economic empowerment projects through the Small and Micro Enterprise Development Authority, until cooperative societies are able to build themselves and gain experience in performance, management, and transformation in the field of real development.
He stressed the need to complete the arrangement, furnishing and equipping of fish points in all the secretariat’s directorates and hand them over to cooperative societies to operate them and employ the workers working in them.
While the Undersecretary of the Civil Associations Sector stressed the importance of focusing on the main goal of the programs and plans of cooperative societies, which is economic empowerment and influencing the social factor and the psychological spirituality of the citizen by developing the necessary solutions and treatments.
He considered cooperative work in society a front parallel to jihadist work on the fronts to alleviate the economic conditions imposed by the aggression coalition on the Yemeni people to exacerbate their suffering.
In turn, the planning sector official in the secretariat, Dr. Abdel-Wahab Sharaf El-Din, reviewed what was accomplished during the last period, the indicators for evaluating the field landing teams in the directorates, the activities implemented, the courses of action, the guidelines and the main roles for action within the framework of a participatory methodology.
He touched on the plan for integrated and participatory development work with society over the next three years, within the framework of programs associated with field teams to mobilize society for economic empowerment and transform society into competitive manufacturing and production industries.
For his part, Director of the Agricultural and Fisheries Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit, Abdullah Sharaf Al-Din, reviewed the steps taken to activate the role of cooperative societies, and the preparations for the arrival of researchers and field teams to survey productive families and small and micro-enterprises, package them, train them, and transform them into production factories for brands that compete with foreign products.
He pointed out the importance of the role of researchers in the field survey to come up with an action plan and develop programs for projects that can be implemented in each district.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Director of the Agricultural and Fisheries Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit in the secretariat, Samir Hamza, directors of directorates, heads and secretaries-general of cooperative societies, mobilization officials, and executive and development leaders.
